Meet Kookie, a kookaburra who was thrown from his nest as a baby and brought into the rescue. Right from the start, Kelsey, one of our dedicated volunteers, formed a special bond with Kookie. She hand-raised him and taught him how to laugh.

In the beginning, Kookie's laughter sounded like a dying motor, as he didn't have any parents to teach him how to laugh properly. Thanks to Kelsey’s patience and care, Kookie learned to laugh properly and now joyfully responds to you when you engage with him.
