Meet Cookie, one of the first wildlife animals I painted. While he wasn't a rescue, his story is still touching. I had reached out to friends to see if anyone had experience with wildlife, and a friend shared Cookie's story with me.

Cookie lived near my friend and had become so close to him over the years that Cookie would fly onto his arm whenever he visited. The original photo was taken on my friend's very hairy arm! To avoid scaring the kids, we decided to replace his arm with a branch in the artwork. This story reminds me that wildlife can build connections with people who show kindness.
